Robert C. Anderson was arrested around 1 a.m., Monday, May 6, outside of the Mystique Nigh Club, after police responded to the club for a reported disturbance, said Stamford Police Lt. Michael Noto.

When officers arrived on the scene the reported disturbance had seemed to end, however during the investigation officers heard a gunshot, Noto said.

Officers responded to the area of the gunshot and detained Anderson who was standing near his car and located in the rear passenger seat was a black handgun, he added.

Anderson was taken into custody. An investigation showed that no one was shot during the incident and it is unclear at this time why the gun was fired, Noto said.

A background check found that Anderson is a convicted felon and does not have a permit to carry a gun and in fact, the gun was report stolen several years ago., Noto added.

Anderson was charged with criminal possession of a firearm, carrying a firearm without a permit, possession of a weapon in a vehicle, and theft of a firearm.

He who was being held on a $100,000 bond has been remanded back to prison for violating his parole.

"No one was injured in this incident and another gun has been taken off the street," said Noto. "We are extremely proud of our officers, as usual running towards to sound of gunfire to keep this city safe."
